Responding to objections from the AFL-CIO, former Assemblywoman Sharron Angle agreed Monday to withdraw her petition to limit property tax increases to 2 percent a year in Nevada.

SACRAMENTO — The chutzpah award for this summer has a runaway winner. It's the small team of Republican operatives trying to rig the 2008 presidential race. "Rig" means tilting the playing field to assure continued Republican occupancy of the White House -- perhaps for a very long time.

When most people hear the words “Only in Vegas,” they think of the spectacular entertainment attractions that exist only in our hometown. But there is something else in Las Vegas that’s increasingly rare in this country: Good jobs. Las Vegas has an abundance of hospitality industry jobs that pay living wages and offer decent benefits and working conditions. Sadly, the rest of America doesn’t. The difference is unions. And that’s why it’s so crucial to enact the Employee Free Choice Act, which thwarts employers’ efforts to keep workers from forming unions to bargain collectively for a better life.

Labor wielding clout in U.S. presidential race |
May 22, 2007 (San Diego Union-Tribune) - Pro-labor Democrats say Nevada, a relatively strong union state slated to move up its primary to an early date, could boost labor's influence in the campaigns. Seventeen percent of Nevada workers are represented by unions, higher than the nation's 12 percent rate, according to government statistics.

Wynn dealers vote on union |
May 14, 2007 (Las Vegas Gaming Wire) - Nearly 700 casino dealers at Wynn Las Vegas are expected to participate in a vote today and early Sunday morning to determine if the employees will be represented under a collective bargaining agreement by the Transport Workers Union of America.
